February 2020 ranked as the second warmest February in climate records going back to 1880 (in 141 years of global climate record), according to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. NASA also rated February 20 as the 2nd warmest February on records, with the only hottest February coming in 2016.
Global ocean temperatures and global land temperatures during February 2020 were the 2nd hottest on record and was 2.11°F above the 20th century average temperature of 53.8°F. Earth’s 10 warmest February’s have all occurred since 1998. February’20 is the 422nd consecutive month where temperatures have been above the 20th century average.
Both Caribbean and Asian region observed their hottest February on record. This heat map shows some of the most significant weather climate changes that occurred during February 2020
