The Green Vic in London is arguably the world’s most eco friendly company. Everything in the bar is as eco friendly as possible. From cleaning to food to drinks to staff, “everything you purchase, eat & use has a positive environmental & social impact.” Founded by Randy Rampersad the founder of “The Better World Group” The Green Vic Pub aims to be the most ethical pub in the world because they believe in choosing the planet over profits and want to create a fun way to give money back to charity and make the world a better place.
They donate a portion of their monthly profits to Hackney Foodbank A non-profit that is working towards stopping hunger and poverty in Hackney. Every Monday night the company feed the homeless and helps them find employment by networking after the meal. Every week they do a charity of the week awareness program and donate money to from their midweek quiz night and fundraisers.
Everything in the store is either eco friendly or has a positive social impact. Drinks are supplied by companies that donate to charities, which means very single drink you purchase goes towards a different charity. So, by drinks alone you’re helping 40 different charities. The food menu being offered is totally vegen that is healthy and doesn’t impact the environment & animals.
The soap in the toilets is made by Clarity, a non profit organization that employ people who are blind or have disabilities, toilet rolls are made from 100% recycled paper, the furniture used in the pub is second hand, the straws used are made from wheat steams that are both biodegradable & gluten free. Even when it comes to hiring people, The Bar ensures they hire maximum number of people from disabled background or homeless people. Everything is either recycled, composted or turned into energy.
