Estonia apologized to Finland on Monday after Estonia’s interior minister ridiculed Finland’s new PM Sanna Marin the world’s youngest serving government leader, “a sales girl” and scrutinized her capacity to run the Nordic nation. Mart Helme Estonian interior minister said at his party Radio Talk show “Now, we see how one sales girl has become a PM, and how other street protesters and non educated individuals have entered the cabinet as well.
His remarks provoked the opposition and they’re asking for his resignation, while Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid asked Finland’s President to give her expressions of remorse to Marin and her goverment.
Estonian opposition leader Kaja Kallas said on Monday, if Helme did not resign after speaking on Finland’s new leaders, the party will call a vote of no confidence in Parliament. Such programs have failed before.
